Drone Hits Heads of Two in Republic Day Event in MP

A heavy flying drone, which was part of the tableau of the MP agriculture department in Republic Day event in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, crash-landed and fell on two performers - one man & one woman,who reportedly are tribal dancers participating in the event.The two get injured and were hospitalized. The duo had come from Dindori district to Jabalpur to perform a tribal dance in the Republic Day function when the incident occurred at Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla stadium, a police officer said in a media statement.According to reports, Indu Kunjam (38) and Gangotri Kunjam (18) sustained head injuries after the drone fell on them at the Republic Day function. They are undergoing treatment at a hospital," Additional Superintendent of Police Rohit Kashwani told media.As apparent in the videos among media outlets and available on YouTube, the drone built is quite heavy and definitely requires a human to operate.According an another report, the owner of the drone is Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University, and an engineering student was operating the drone before it got crashed onto the tribal dancers. The student, who operating the drone, was the same student who made news in the past for making biggest drone ever for agriculture. With a weight of 50 kg, this drone can spray fertilizer and insecticide on one acre of field in 6 minutes. The drone as well its maker were both receives much appreciations that time.Coincidently, central government recently announced its intentions of pushing the use of drones in agriculture sector wherein the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has issued guidelines to make drone technology affordable to the stakeholders of farming sector.The whole matter is said to be under investigation.Last year in October, dozens of drones were fell from the sky during a light show in central China’s Henan province.
